A Sneak Peek At YouTube's New Transparent Design

It seems like YouTube is getting a fresh new video player design soon. The new design replaces the solid grey background of the control bar with a much clean, moder and less obtrusive transparent gradient. The icons have been tweaked a little and there are some cool new animations which add a bit of visual flair.

As always, Google has enabled the new player for some users only and not all to analyze the impact of the change. However you can try the new design right now by a simple cookie modification. Google Chrome users have to download an extension - EditThisCookie from the Chrome Web Store. Now click on the button of the extension while on YouTube and modify the cookie VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE by replacing its value with Q06SngRDTGA. Firefox users need to press Shift+F2 while on YouTube and then write cookie set VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE Q06SngRDTGA and hit enter. Reload the page and YouTube's New Transparent Video Player will be activated for you.
