If you are using Windows XP for some time, you must have noticed that a 'New Program Installed' bubble notification appears in the start menu whenever a new application is installed on your computer. This can get a bit annoying since you always know that a new program was installed because it was you who installed it. So here's a way to turn off this notification and the highlighting of the new applications.
- Right Click on the Start button. Select Properties from the menu that appears.
- The Properties Dialog Box appears. Make sure that Start Menu option is selected and click on Customize.
- Now click on the Advanced Tab. Uncheck Highlight newly installed programs option and click OK.
- That's it! The annoying bubble has been disabled and you can enjoy a clean start menu.
