Google has recently released its stock Clock app in the Play Store. The version of the app is 4.0.1 which is the same as the one seen in Android M Developer Preview. Google Clock is built to run on all Android 4.4+ devices. With this app users will be able to experience Google's latest material design on their phone. Another advantage of releasing the stock apps (including Messenger, Camera and Calendar which were previously launched) as separate standalone apps in the Play Store ensure that Google is able to update them whenever they want irrespective of OTA updates provided by phone manufacturers.
But the recent release of Clock by Google has resulted in numerous unhappy users who are unable to install the app from the Play Store. The problem is mainly arising in devices running Android Kitkat. Users are reporting that the downloading goes well but during the installation process an error message namely 'Duplicate Provider Authority' is shown and the process stops abruptly. It has also been observed that in such phones, installing the app from the apk file also does not help. It seems that there is no simple solution to this problem until Google releases an update to Clock app. Otherwise there is no option other than rooting the phone, uninstalling the built-in clock and then reinstalling Google Clock.

I wish Google can soon release general os upgrades much like Windows for PC that can be installed on any system meeting the basic requirements and people don't need to rely on such stupid manufacturers like " INTEX" who by luck or by chance tend to make good devices but provide poor support...
Please Google take care of our devices. :')
